Supervision (RBT, BCBA, and BCaBA)

Supervision

Behavior Evolve, LLC provides supervision, training, assessment, and/or oversees individuals who are working toward RBT, BCBA, and BCaBA certification or providing behavior-analytic services. This oversight occurs in three primary roles:

  • Supervisor: Supervisors oversee individuals who are accruing fieldwork hours to become certified (e.g., trainees) and/or individuals who are providing behavior-analytic services (e.g., RBTs and BCaBAs).

  • Assessor: Assessors conduct and/or oversee assessments of individuals who are pursuing or maintaining certification to determine whether they are competent in specific tasks commonly conducted by behavior technicians.

  • Trainer: Trainers develop and/or provide training and/or oversee individuals who are providing the training.

Supervision Activities May Include

  • Developing performance expectations

  • Observing, providing behavioral skills training, and delivering performance feedback

  • Modeling technical, professional, and ethical behavior

  • Guiding the development of problem-solving and ethical decision-making repertoires

  • Reviewing written materials (e.g., daily progress notes, data sheets)

  • Overseeing and evaluating the effects of behavior-analytic service delivery

  • Providing ongoing evaluation of the effects of supervision

Supervising RBT

RBTs must meet certain maintenance requirements to remain proficient in performing critical behavior technician skills for behavior analysis services, receive appropriate oversight over those activities, and demonstrate a continued commitment to ethical behaviors that help protect consumers and the public.

Supervising BCBA and BCaBA

Every BCaBA must practice under the supervision of a qualified supervisor. Any BCaBA who does not have a qualified supervisor will be considered inactive and may not practice or use their BCaBA certification until they have a supervisor. The supervisor and the BCaBA must review these requirements together and resolve any concerns at the onset of supervision. Both parties must also ensure that any supervision provided or received is consistent with current BACB requirements (via regular review of BACB Newsletters and web pages for updates), any applicable state regulatory standards (e.g., licensure), and relevant third-party payer requirements.
